whats a type?

are the same people always attracted to the same "type" of people.
in the college past, my friend krissi and i have been attracted to the same "type" of boy. but im not attracted to her fiancee. i think he's great, but im not into him? is it because of time and change? maybe at the time we were attracted to the same type, we were closer to the same type ourselves?
